Yes. It's an old story, with most of the new details nothing but a function of technology developments. That's why hearing "progressives" like Jon Stewart regularly advise his adoring fans to just calm the fuck down really infuriates me. In the face of Trump's obvious adoption of almost every move in the 1933 Hitler playbook, becalming oneself doesn't seem to me to be an appropriate answer.
BTW, I had intended to review "What's the Matter with Kansas" at one point, but it didn't seem worth it. Seemed to me to spend most of its space vacillating between obvious truths and obvious falsehoods.
I don't get what's going on with Jon Stewart, but I find it really disappointing. I saw the first few minutes of his spiel last week ridiculing the idea there was anything authoritarian-like with Trump's actions, casually mentioning in passing that Trump is a guy who "pushes boundaries". Ah, that explains it all! :-) No problem, then! These folks who claim not to be Trumpers, but vociferously rip Ds continually, ought to just admit where they're at rather than trying to have it both ways.
Stewart also had a monologue not long ago that pushed Dems to be as little fastidious about following laws and norms as Repubs have been. I understand where he was coming from, but I don't reallly think lawlessness by everybody is the answer. I think he has finally jumped the shark and should completely turn the show over to Desi, Ronnie, et al.
I wrote this piece breaking down how the Democratic Party’s failure to lead has left a dangerous vacuum just as Trump is consolidating power—and why Obama is the only figure with the influence, presence, and voice to challenge him.
Democrats don’t just need a better message—they need a movement. And the only person who can build it is Obama.

Respectfully, I don’t think the Barbara Streisand point makes much sense. There is a huge difference between wealthy people choosing to pursue policies of generosity that may not fulfill their economic interests in the crudest, most direct terms vs. poorer people being persuaded to vote to punish themselves economically in ways they literally cannot afford. I also don’t see how the concept of “cultural populism” can even be defined or delimited. I mean, a lot of it comes down to cultural icons or cliches - American flags, apple pie, guns, etc. - that aren’t necessarily limited to any particular class. For me, populism only makes sense if viewed in fundamentally economic terms as Thomas Frank did.
But try to remember that many non-plutocrats actually enjoy such things as curb cuts and walk lights that don’t assume running, closed captioning and such and would like guaranteed maternity leave for all mothers, not just those who work in blue states that extended Clinton’s promise. This too is DEI. They THINK it is all about race or ballots in English. But if their kids go to rural schools without honors classes, they are probably not so happy that DEI can no longer be deflating the over-4.0 grades that the kids in such schools routinely get.
Seth, here is a great explanation as the steps out President is taking to right the ship of state that the Socialist Democrats used against the American people. Every day, even from the Southern White House, our President has a great team working 24/7 to undo all the damage caused by Dementia Joe and his puppeteers. Interesting read see link below;
Trump needs to be in prison or a mental institution and Musk needs to have his citizen ship revoked and deported back to South Africa💙✌🏻
