Good discussion, except that I always cringe when I hear fascists whitewashed as “populists.” My personal opinion is that it’s cowardly to not call a spade a spade and sloppy to lump those who appeal to the people on false premises with those who appeal to the public with the intent to actually represent them and deliver for them. “Populist” Trump larded his administration up with billionaires and passed only one significant piece of legislation, which happened to consist of tax cuts for the wealthy. Calling these people “populist” only reinforces their con game.
