Re ‘In particular, it drives away those typically targeted by modern Nazis — Jews, women, people of color, gays and lesbians, trans people, and more. If you’re choosing to have more of one you’re going to get less of the other, and people will notice.’ ,

What if we encouraged the opposite? Don’t run but stay, gather and outnumber - more of us less of them.

There already are more of us and less of them. But Substack is giving them a base to organize. Which is what I'm objecting to.

A few things we know to be true, constants -

1. The Nazis aren’t going anywhere. Substack or no Substack, they’re organised and monitizing.

2. Substack aren’t going to change tract. They don’t need to. They don’t want to.

The only variable is what you do. Fill up this space with truth and enlightenment? or allow it to become a nazi dominated platform. If you run, the latter is a guaranteed outcome. Don’t run.

I know they don't want to change. I am trying to change their mind.

I stand corrected! Good lesson learnt.

You and who else? The 247 (ballpark) signatories? I don’t mean to be mean buuuuut get over yourself. You don’t hold the influence. So instead of using your energy against Substack, use it to spread something positive instead. Shine the light where there might otherwise be darkness. All the best and merry Christmas.

Thanks for this. I am really conflicted about all this and am thinking long and hard about whether I stay or go. Every platform seems problematic at the moment

It has a Nazi problem if you define Hamas as Nazi but the progressives here love Hamas so that definition is unacceptable to them and I suppose to you too.

I do not define Hamas as Nazi.

If Hamas is not Nazi I don’t know what is. Conservative Jewish Holocaust survivors perhaps?

Nazis are Nazis. This isn't hard.

Give me an example. I have never known anyone who identified as Nazi.

I have only ever heard of one or two of these and I have never seen them on Substack. How big is this Nazi problem?

This isn't that complicated. No, anti-Zionists are not automatically Nazis. One can be opposed to Israel without wanting to exterminate Jews. There are newsletters on here that explicitly advocate for Nazism, Neo-Confederacy, white supremacy, etc. Other services have chosen to ban such pages. Not banning those is a choice.
