It is always helpful to include, when discussing the Bush administration's responses to 9/11, that Iraq had absolutely nothing to with it, and that Bush deliberately misled the public on this.

Having been among the millions (tens of millions?) here and abroad who opposed and demonstrated against the Iraq war before and after the W administration launched it, I get the distinction you're drawing between the current attack on Iran and the two Bush wars. I agree with you that this attack on Iran is more shambolic and inexplicable in terms of sensible/reasonable foreign-policy goals. The "factual" predicate for this attack seems to change by the hour. Whatever the differences, I doubt this attack will make the Middle East a safer, more peaceful region. I think it's more likely to have the opposite effect - there and here.

I feel like there is an apt Andor quote for this situation:

"They don't even bother to lie badly anymore. I suppose that is the final humiliation."

Oh damn I should have included that!

You'll just need to include it in a future article and confess your oversight/sins at the next APSA star wars panel.

Blair also lied about wmd’s, they did not exist and a million protesters took to the streets but Blair, in his arrogance, ignored public opinion. The war was unwanted and history proved what a disaster it proved to be opening the door to ISIS. This war in Iran is equally irresponsible and unnecessary. Israel has been desperate to start a conflict and Trump hates Iran which is all that is needed for the Americans to invade another country, just as long as it is not on their soil. They have no concerns about anyone, the death of innocent people, the destruction of a country knowing full well they have more power than their opponents. The hubris and arrogance of America, hopefully, will one day be thwarted, they need to be taught a lesson. I am hoping against hope that the UK does not get drawn into this illegal and disgusting conflict. We cannot support Trump or Netanyahu, both awful people. Starmer cannot afford to be related, in any way, shape or form, to these two evil monsters.

Not only was the evidence lacking for WMDs, none of us had HEARD of the term "WMD" nor heard it used as a rationale for anything, prior to the disgusting parade of excuse-making leading up to the invasion of Iraq. Put another way: the premise wasn't only unsubstantiated; it also wasn't even a premise. This line of bullshit sleight-of-hand argument was different from, but also set a precedent for, the more inept non-arguments we have been hearing this past week.
