People to support in the LA fires
If you have a bit of change, these folks could use your help
In response to my post from last week, a number of readers and friends sent in links for supporting people who have lost homes in the fires in Southern California. There are a number of ways to make a difference whether you’re in California or anywhere else in the world. But if you have a bit of money to spare, it could go a long way here.
First of all, there are a number of organizations providing relief every day that could use your support. This includes the American Red Cross, which has set up a California wildfires campaign, the World Central Kitchen, which is providing meals for the displaced, and the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, which is supporting the incarcerated firefighters at work throughout the area.
In no particular order, here is a list of families and organizations affected by the fires who could use support. I’ve linked to their GoFundMe campaigns.
Wendy Lallas, Altadena
The Frazier Family, Pacific Palisades
The Bunny Museum, Altadena
Jill and Larry McDonald, Altadena
Katie O'Neill, Pacific Palisades
Ruti, Augie & Isaiah, Eaton
Nicole, Mike, and Eamon, Altadena
The Parkhurst-Wear Family, Topanga Canyon
The Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center, Pasadena
Also, here is a list of GoFundMe campaigns for affected Black families in Altadena
If you know of others, please alert me and I’ll post updates when I can.
Thank you for your help! There are dozens (or more) of families listed here as well; and from this page you can also start a new GoFundMe: https://tinyurl.com/yhuzzx3f. Of note, too, is that GoFundMe protects donations for 1 year. Displaced Latino families of Altadena can be (GFM) supported at https://tinyurl.com/2psz93pr . -- Sally
