Science can be both an enabler and a re-strainer, and it can be an enabler of things taken to be good or bad, and also to be a good or bad re-strainer. So for Dems in 1960s bad enabler of scientific attacks on Vietnam eg the hot jelly whose name I can't recall at this moment.

Now Dems like the science which enables vaccines, so is a good enabler.

feminism tends to be a left-wing cause even though there are no shortage of assertive right-wing women. It is science which is arguing for women and men being more similar in intellectual potential at least. So Dems like this enabling by science, and Republicans hate sciences enabling of relatively safe contraception and abortion. And there's been the wars re evolution, which the republicans and their Christian friends have decisively lost.

So its not science but the two groups which move around depending on the political situation. Ian
